Every problem in the world is created because the creation messes up the balance.
Whether that’s the balance at the level of the ecosystem and environment or whether that’s the balance in maintaining relationships.
It is when humans feel that they are more important than the other human and/or creature.
It is when they think their opinion is correct. What they understand is as if the ultimate truth.
It is when feeding their sense of power and ego is more important.
It is when the ‘I,me,myself’ are more important than the others ‘they and them’.
We have 2 main groups of people here: (1) those who don’t care about what others think, period and (2) those who constantly think about what others think and fear them more than they fear Allah SWT
The first group has issues with their Nafs. Their Nafs and self-love has overcome their intellect. These very people become angry when things don’t go their way and burn the whole society around them with the fire within them. Just like Iblees, who’s going to push others to Hell and destroy others just because he was jealous! With such people, only their problems are problems. They think only their emotions are important and destroy everyone who lies in their way. And in the process they paint everything and everyone with the colour of their own interpretation, gradually deviating from the Haqq. Not knowing what the truth is anymore. It is when they’ve taken themselves, their own Nafs as their gods…again just like Iblees.
Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilâh (god) his own vain desire? Would you then be a Wakîl (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? [Suratul FurQan, 25:43]
The second group has issues with their waswaas and miscontrued concept of their Rabb in the context of fear. They will drive carefully fearing that they’d get a ticket when they see the radar in the area but not once…and I re-iterate, not once would they fear the Rabb of those who created traffic lights and everything else when the transgress His Limits. They will be extra careful when dealing with others but when it comes to Allah SWT, they behave as Allah SWT is not All-Seeing and All-Hearing Naa’dhoobillah.
In both cases, the balance is messed up. The priorities are messed up.
If you identify yourself from the first group, ask yourself this: Are your emotions more important or Allah SWT? What this means is that should you bend to your Nafs or what Allah SWT has ordained such as having beautiful manners in critical situations?
- When can you use this? An easy example would be when you’re angry. Another different example could be when somebody affects your emotions negatively and you give up the commitments you had made to Allah SWT.
If you identify yourself from the second group, ask yourself this: Who’s worth of your fear more, your Rabb or humans? Who are you constantly fearing more, the creations or the Creator? The Creator who can make those whom you fear, fear you!
- When can you use this? An example:When you are backbiting to other people either verbally or through text (social messengers, forums, cellphones), just think about the fact that even if that person you’re backbiting about isn’t there to defend himself/herself…Allah SWT is right there! He SWT can reveal all your sins that you hide so meticulously in an instant. You may not realize but the radar of Allah SWT are the Kiramun Katibeen, who are constantly collecting evidence against you. It doesn’t have to be what you utter from your tongue. It encompasses what you see(non-Mahrams), what you hear (eavesdropping, music), what you touch, what you type and what exactly were your intentions when you rolled your eyes, raised your hands gesturing at someone or imitating someone mockingly. Allah SWT knows the secrets of the heart!
Know they (Jews) not that Allâh knows what they conceal and what they reveal? [Suratul Baqarah, 2:77]
Dear Muslim: if you think you’re more important than you’re in for a reality check. The bees and the ants which you think you can crush under your feet are constantly following His Orders making provisions for you. If you think you will get away by obeying people over Your Rabb, then know what Allah SWT says in this verse:
And fear a Day (of Judgement) when a person shall not avail another, nor will intercession be accepted from him nor will compensation be taken from him nor will they be helped. [Suratul Baqarah, 2:48]
Those whom you fear and thus obey and disobey Allah SWT then know that they will not help you one bit. Not your boss, not your friends, your spouse, your children, not even your parents! Look at what you’re striving for. Look at what you’re working hard for day and night because that will determine your end!
But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense), The Day when man shall remember what he strove for, And Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees, Then, for him who transgressed all bounds (in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allâh).And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire;[Surah An-Naziat, 79:34-39]
Most of us must be balanced too in our approach towards Akhira. While we should hope and have good expectations from Allah SWT, we should also fear Him in the correct manner inshaa’Allah:
Does every man of them hope to enter the Paradise of Delight? No, that is not like that! Verily, We have created them out of that which they know! So I swear by the Lord of all [the three hundred and sixty-five (365)] points of sunrise and sunset in the east and the west that surely We are Able — To replace them by (others) better than them; and We are not to be outrun So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised — The Day when they will come out of the graves quickly as racing to a goal, With their eyes lowered in fear and humility, ignominy covering them (all over)! That is the Day which they were promised! [Suratul Maarij, 70:38-44]
And Allah SWT knows best.
