When you have people coming to you losing faith (yes, giving up on Islam) just because the members of their families who are known for their religiosity are totally opposite people at home, you start questioning as to where did the problem start from. Is it culture which is destroying our morality? Why is there a recurring trend that Muslims heavily focus on the ritual acts and not on the prescribed Islamic way of daily interactions? It’s as if the latter is only ‘extra’ part of our Deen. SubhanAllah, isn’t the purpose of them both one and the same, i.e. to worship Allah SWT?
There’s this huge gap in the understanding of a 21st Century’s Muslim of what really are the Maqasid of Shari’ah. What does it mean to be married Islamically on the basis of the Quraan and Sunnah? How is it that Allah SWT wants a husband to behave with his wife and vice versa? The purpose of marriage is not just marriage. According to Islam (at the very basic level), it is the preservation of two individuals’ , their Deen, mind, lineage, wealth, honor and health. These are the exact same reasons for every Command of Allah SWT, whether it is fasting in the month of Ramadan or polygyny. People fast at the level of remaining hungry and thirsty but don’t fast from things which will bring about Taqwa such as controlling one’s tongue etc. The essence has been forgotten. They do Hajj but are involved in bribery and so on and so forth.
The idea sunk in more because I remember studying in a History course about how the government separated itself from the Church in the past 200 years or so. That’s precisely what happened with Islam. Clearly there’s a need for a ‘re-marriage’ to occur between ‘Ibadaat and Ma’amlaat. Mashaa’Allah the videos address some of these issues in a very neutral and clear manner. A lot of things make sense now. This is one show you wouldn’t want to miss. And yes, it’s a series (by Huda TV):
These 2 videos not only provide knowledge in a positive attitude but also may be of great interest to those who are ‘into’ Fiqh and Usool ul Fiqh.
And Allah SWT knows best.
