And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one.
[Surat’l Kahf, 18:49]
The biggest fault within us as humans is that we fail to remain aware that Allah SWT is Ar-Raqeeb , the Ever-Watchful, and due that lack of awareness we sin. So we think that as long as people don’t find out about our hidden gestures, rolling of our eyes behind people’s backs, and typing of our fingers, we’re off the hook. But interestingly, Allah SWT has told us what criminals will say on the Day of Judgement in the above verse that not a single thing will be waived off from being recorded. Therefore, be extra careful for every eye movement, every whisper, every thing you mutter under your breath…because believe it or not, it’s being recorded and it will be shown to you on the Day of Judgement. Even if you justify today that your intention was ‘right’, your heart was clean and so on, there’s no running away on that day when your skin will testify against you!
Allah SWT says:
(1) In Surat’l Israa, 17:14
(It will be said to him): “Read your book. You yourself are sufficient as a reckoner against you this Day.”
(2) In Surat Fussilat, 41:20-23
Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do.
And they will say to their skins, “Why have you testified against us?” They will say, “We were made to speak by Allah , who has made everything speak; and He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.
And you were not covering yourselves, lest your hearing testify against you or your sight or your skins, but you assumed that Allah does not know much of what you do.
And that was your assumption which you assumed about your Lord. It has brought you to ruin, and you have become among the losers.“
(3) In Surat’l Qiyamah, 75:14-15
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,
Even if he presents his excuses.
Please remember this when you feel inclined towards sinning even when nobody’s watching. Even if it’s a simple rolling of the eye. Be very careful inshaa’Allah!
And Allah SWT knows best.
May Allah SWT save us from such a fate and grant us an open acceptance of our tawbah.Ameen.
