Just for a Smile: Strange yet Beautiful Ending in an Ayah which Cools the Heart

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

On the Day when every person will be confronted with all the good he has done, and all the evil he has done, he will wish that there were a great distance between him and his evil. And Allâh warns you against Himself (His Punishment) and Allâh is full of Kindness to the (His) slaves.

[Surat Ale Imraan, 3:30]

~

I came across the above ayah and I knew I wouldn’t want to die without sharing it. And who knows somebody out there is need of a reminder of Allah SWT’s Greatness?

I felt this ayah literally resulted in a sine/cosine curve of emotions for me. The magnitude of emotions neatly following the peaks and troughs that you see on a graph. It’s fascinating how Allah SWT ends the ayah after warning His Slave. After a moment of scare  in which one would be prone to forgetting His Mercy as one recited the first part of the ayah, Allah SWT  reminds us about His Special Compassion for His Slaves. It made me smile at the Greatness of His Kindness that He was kind enough not to end with His Names and Attributes which may make the slave upset even more. What a beautiful Master! Why wouldn’t a slave of Allah SWT wish to please Him? A Master who lovingly warns against Himself and that in of itself is a glaring manifestation of His Ultimate Mercy. Wow subhanAllah! His Words are deep and so well-placed that they have an impact on the average human to make him reflect about Him. Who wouldn’t want to meet Him? Who would want to disobey Him? Do we ever want to displease whom we love? Don’t we fear displeasing such individuals? To Allah SWT belong the Highest and Most Loftiest of Examples, Praise and Mention. Surely, His Ruboobiyah itself is sufficient for us to obey Him. Now after recognizing His Kindness, we have all the more reason to obey Him with love and respect along with the fear not to incur His Wrath. SubhanAllah, walhamdolilah, wa la ilaha illalah wallahu Akbar! May Allah SWT make us of those who glorify Him with all our hearts day and night in the manner most pleasing to Him. Ameen. And Allah SWT knows best.
