بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Every disappointment is a lesson in patience. And patience paves path towards that which all His Slaves wish to reach, i.e. Allah SWT’s Companionship for hasn’t He SWT said so himself:
و اصبروا إن الله مع الصابرين
“…and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
[Surat’l Anfal 8:46]
I read somewhere this and while I don’t know it’s reference, I really liked it:
Abu Ali ad-Daqqaq said:
“People who have patience are the true winners in this world and the next, because they have the companionship of Allah.”
So really, it doesn’t matter what anyone says or make you feel. If it demands any ounce of patience from you then suck it in from your very inner being, pull it to the surface and adorn your outerself with it. For it is only an opportunity to gain His Companionship especially when people psychologically isolate you and consequently desert you through any hurt that they cause. Resentment only breeds more hurt but forgiveness and focusing on all the other good things in that person who’s caused the hurt is better for those Muslimahs who wish to worship Allah SWT as a true grateful slave. If a Muslim woman has patience, she has everything and if she doesn’t have patience, whatever she once had or has…she loses.
Most of us have deficiencies in one thing or the other. However, if the entire world’s deficiencies were in you and you only have one good quality of patience then know you have what the wealthy can never buy through money, the educated can never achieve through their degrees and what the old can never attain through experience. It is only the knowledge of Allah SWT which puts a stop to everything that negates patience.
A Muslim woman knows better than to waste her time in useless thoughts. Purposeful living begins when useless thoughts are discarded. And for that too, patience and determination is required. Patience could be having the courage to laugh at your own mistakes, accepting that you don’t know publicly or it could be the courage to tactfully deal with that which you know you inherently have the power to destroy in a minute due to your strength. Afterall, striving to be patient is not just for the weak. Sometimes patience could even be intentionally overlooking others’ flaws over and over again; foregoing them and working on your own instead without complaint to the Creations. A Muslim woman is above any individual who seeks comfort in complaining to the Creations about her situation and/or need.
Remember Asiya, may Allah SWT be pleased with her – she had it worst but she had it the most. The Creations were against her but the Creator was on her side. And she triumphed. She was the ultimate winner.
A Muslim woman cannot be a means of khayr for anyone if she is stuck in all that is otherwise.
وقال الذين أوتوا العلم ويلكم ثواب الله خير لمن آمن وعمل صالحا ولا يلقاها إلا الصابرون
“But those who had been given knowledge said, “Woe to you! The reward of Allah is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient.”
And Allah SWT knows best.
